When it comes to performance, both the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and BMW 3 Series seem to almost match each other blow for blow. Both feature an all-wheel drive system, and both are equipped with a 2.0L 4-cylinder turbocharged engine with almost identical power output, though the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class takes a slight advantage when it comes to torque.
This advantage gets blown open, however, thanks to the powerful integrated starter generator (ISG) in the engine of the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class. This 48-volt mild hybrid technology is known as EQ Boost and grants you increased efficiency as well as an additional 20 horsepower and up to 148 additional lb-ft of torque.
While the BMW 3 Series does feature similar 48-volt mild hybrid tech, it’s only available on the higher M340i trim level, while it comes standard on the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.

Both the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the BMW 3 Series have plenty to offer in terms of interior comfort. Both have standard seating for up to five passengers, as well as standard heated and power front seats with memory settings. Convenient storage options are also standard with both models offering 40/20/40 split fold-down rear seats.
However, when it comes to tech and connectivity features, both models feature an advanced infotainment system. The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class offers the Mercedes-Benz User Experience (MBUX) while the BMW 3 Series offers BMW Live Cockpit Plus.
For controlling these systems, the 3 Series offers an 8.8-inch standard control display, with an available 10.25-inch display on higher trims. Meanwhile, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class comes standard with an 11.9-inch center touchscreen display right out of the gate, offering more room to easily navigate your favorite apps and playlists.
The 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class also offers a Biometric Fingerprint Scanner, for quick and secure access to personalized features, as well as Car-to-X-Communication, which lets you share information over the air with other nearby Mercedes-Benz drivers. Both features you’ll only find on the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class.
When it comes to the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class vs. the BMW 3 Series, both sedans offer top-of-the-line luxurious driving experiences. Though if you’re looking for a little more oomph under the hood, as well as the latest in cutting-edge tech, the 2022 Mercedes-Benz C-Class is most likely the choice for you.
Of course, the best way to tell which vehicle is the right fit is to get behind the wheel yourself. You can do just that with a test drive at Mercedes-Benz of Hanover.
